Dear Piney Point Village Residents:

My name is Jonathan Curth. My wife, Meg, and I and our three children Preston (11), Finn (9) and Lillian (7) have been proud Piney Point Village residents since 2019. I currently serve as one of your Councilman (Alderman) on City Council. My service on City Council has enlightened me to greater possibilities for our Village. That is why I am writing to let you know that I am running for Mayor in this Spring’s 2024 election.

For those of you who I have yet to meet personally, let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a lawyer and businessman by background and grew up in San Antonio in a working-class family. My parents struggled, but they instilled in me a strong work ethic and stressed the importance of honesty, education and serving others.

With those fundamentals, over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to lead an oil and gas company as its CEO and have served in various other legal/commercial executive leadership roles for publicly-traded energy companies. My experience also includes taking a private equity company public on the NYSE, and successfully merging into a larger competitor later that year. While I am fortunate to have enjoyed commercial successes, these days I derive more pleasure from serving others and our community. I intend to live in our Village for the rest of my life, and I want to focus my efforts on improving our Village. I am not a politician; rather, I think of myself as a working employee of the Village.

According to my wife, my business and legal background has influenced my personality a bit, in that I do tend to move and talk fast – and I rarely take no for an answer! At the same time, however, I have a fun side, as clearly evidenced by the 40-foot Santa and other oversized holiday inflatables that you will find in our front yard every Christmas season. If you haven’t driven down Greenbay Circle (behind Chapelwood Church), you are in for a treat in December 2024!

As it relates to our other community ties and involvement, our children attend Second Baptist School, and we attend church, volunteer and teach at Grace Bible Church. You will often find our family at Escalante’s, Carrabba’s, Fu’s Garden or the Houston Racquet Club multiple times every week after school or sporting events. I am also currently soaking in every moment coaching my daughter’s basketball team.

In December, my family and I spent considerable time on a community project: a customized holiday gift to each resident of Piney Point Village. I hope you are enjoying your Piney Point Village coffee mug. In my accompanying message, I conveyed that I wake up every day thinking about how, together, we can improve our Village. I wrote those words, and I mean them. I love meeting neighbors and hearing their concerns, regardless of the nature or severity of the matter. I make a concerted effort to meet new residents, and I pride myself in focusing on details. I know what I want to accomplish as YOUR Mayor, and, in a subsequent letter, I will specify goals so you can judge for yourself and hold me accountable.

To that end, I ask for your SUPPORT AND VOTE during early voting (April 22-30, 2024) and on Election Day (May 4, 2024).

In the meantime, I would love to speak with you or buy you a cup of coffee, so please do not hesitate to reach out. My cell phone number is (713) 853-9467, and my email is Please visit and subscribe to my primary social media account (Instagram), @VoteCurth, where I post Village-related and personal messages.
