Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I want to speak candidly with you about the current status and future of Piney Point Village as your sitting City Councilmember #5. During my Mayoral campaign, my intentions were clear, focusing on long-term city planning and development, without a hidden agenda.

To the contrary, my opponent, Aliza Dutt, ran as a calculated step toward her next political ambition. Within months of election, she hired one of the nation’s largest political consultants to advise her on running for a Harris County position, where her focus has been for many months.

It is obvious that Piney Point was never her priority — it was, and continues to be, about using our Village as a steppingstone. Even the Houston Chronical published an article on July 17, 2025, about misleading campaign announcements.

It is now understood why she expended so many hours seeking the endorsements of career Harris County politicians. She didn’t seek those endorsements for our Village’s purposes but rather for the benefit of launching her next campaign. Our community was simply a means to an end. If you will recall, I wrote “The only endorsement I care about is YOURS.” My statement then remains true now. I committed to our Village that I would always tell you the truth and explain my agenda and positions.

Piney Point Village is not an HOA. We are an operational city with real issues and real budgets that demand attention. We deserve representation from someone who will show up, fight for us, and stay committed – our Village and its residents are not resume boosters.

To that end, weeks after our Village had endured the devastating 2024 Derecho Storm and then Hurricane Beryl, in which Piney Point was in the BOTTOM QUARTILE of the entire Harris County area to get our electricity back online by CenterPoint Energy in both instances, she cozied up to CenterPoint Executives at the VIP Lexus Lounge and accepted court-side tickets to the Houston Rockets game from CenterPoint.

When she had the opportunity to be the deciding vote on a highly contested ordinance, she abstained from voting to avoid making a controversial decision, not acting to make decisions and drive policy.

To the contrary, I helped coordinate to have CenterPoint’s management attend a City Council meeting where I made my (and our Village’s) feelings known that CenterPoint’s lack of attention to critical infrastructure and work delays were unacceptable. I informed CenterPoint’s representatives that I could not believe that either one of them maintained their job after such a lackluster performance. I made clear that we would not put up with the same results again, to which they acknowledged and apologized. I will never stop fighting for us.

I want to focus next efforts on long-term planning for our Village. We have millions of dollars of critical public bonds that will mature very soon, which you probably have never heard about. We had accounting irregularities and financial fraud committed within the Village Fire Department, which, again, you probably never heard about. That is not the result of our hard-working first responders but the appointed officials who are supposed to oversee such matters.

We also have a large percentage of homes that have turned over from Baby Boomers to younger families with demands of our Village that are not being served. Since the last Mayoral campaign, crime stats have increased, vehicle speeding within our community has worsened, and city infrastructure remains neglected. I will usher in the oversight needed.

As previously mentioned, we have a full-time City Manager (Bobby Pennington) who can address our Village’s day-to-day needs, but we have a critical demand for Executive-level leadership to focus on long-term city development and planning. I founded a successful law firm, I have taken an energy company public and then sold it in partnership with private equity, and I currently co-manage an investment office. I am a seasoned CEO who will lead this Village into the next decade.

We need to take action on what we want Piney Point to look like by 2033. Our Village should stand out as the absolute best place to live in Houston, be the safest area to reside, and continuously increase in property values to maintain our important household investment.
